Glad the post was useful. I am running 10.6.6 on my work MacBook Pro so I just removed my headphones and re-added them to see the process. This is what I did.
1. Opened System Preferences
2. Went to Bluetooth
3. Clicked the +. Bluetooth Setup Assistant launches
4. Put the headphones in discoverable mode by holding down the power button for 7 seconds while turning it on
5. Selected the headphones when they popped up in the device list, and clicked Continue
6. Waited for the device to pair, which took about 10 seconds. After pairing, you get a screen that confirms the setup and confirms that you can use the device as an audio input and output device.
7. Quit Bluetooth Setup Assistant
8. Back in the Bluetooth preference pane in System Preferences, selected the headphones in the list
9. Clicked and held the cog icon by the + and – to bring up the popup menu. Selected “Use as Audio Device (Stereo)”
10. Green light showed up next to headphones, indicating connectivity
11. Launched iTunes, audio sounds great.
