"Unable to add the buddy because the username is invalid. Usernames must be valid email addresses." is mistakenly occuring a lot on MSN lately.

This issue is still under investigation in the library we use (#p13298). To work around this issue add MSN contacts using the Windows live website or the official MSN client.
